A Nottingham mixologist has been announced as the winner of the first regional final of a cocktail competition.
Christian Tirel of The Last Chance Saloon in Nottingham was announced as the regional winner of the Southern Showdown.
Ten competitors had five minutes each to make a unique cocktail that had to include Southern Comfort with Christian being judged as the winner.
He will take part in the national final where the winner’s prize is a trip to New Orleans.

Speaking before the result was announced, Southern Comfort assistant brand manager Chris Kent said: “Creativity is going to be key.
“The way that it’s presented needs to be in an entertaining and engaging way and we also want something we can look at and think that maybe later down the line we can actually use it.
“New Orleans is the prize and is the home of the cocktail and the home of Southern Comfort so it’s all about bringing people back to our roots and see the origin of where cocktails came from.”
