Police ask man involved in Rock City incident to come forward

Video: A member of the Rock City security staff appears to leave a man unconscious

Notts Police have urged a man left unconscious on the floor after a struggle with security staff at Rock City to come forward.

The footage, filmed in the early hours of Thursday morning (November 23), shows a group of security staff grappling with a man outside the venue on Talbot Street in Nottingham.

The man appears to lose consciousness while being restrained from behind by a doorman. He drops to the floor, landing heavily and hitting his head – the doorman then walks away.

Nottinghamshire Police are ‘encouraging the victim or any witnesses to come forward’.

A spokesperson from the force said: “We are investigating a report of an assault which happened outside Rock City in the early hours of Thursday (November 23).

“Licencing officials will be contacting the Rock City owners in relation to the incident.

“Anyone with any information about the incident is urged to call Notts Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

Rock City owners DHP said an investigation is underway, adding they have spoken to the firm which supplies its security, telling them the doorman involved in the incident should not work at its venues until further notice.

A statement issued on behalf of DHP read: “DHP were already aware of the incident and began an investigation the next morning (Thursday) with the firm that supplies security.

“DHP have made it clear that they expect the security firm to investigate the incident thoroughly with their staff and take appropriate action.

“In the meantime, DHP have instructed them that the security team member involved cannot work at Rock City or any other DHP venue.”
