Driver in crash which killed Imogen Skirving released on bail

Imogen-Skirving-Langar

The driver in a crash which killed Nottingham hotelier Imogen Skirving has been released on bail after appearing in court for the first time.

Imogen, 78, died after being hit by a car while walking on the Spanish Island of Menorca last Wednesday.

The owner of Langar Hall was well-known across Nottinghamshire, and dozens of friends and colleagues have been paying tribute to her.

She had been on the island for a family holiday. Her daughter, Louise, and a family friend, were also hurt in the accident but have since been discharged from hospital.

Police in Spain arrested the driver, another British woman who lives on Menorca, and she is being held on the grounds of suspected reckless homicide.

Local paper Menorca.info reports she appeared before a judge in court on Monday.

Prosecutors did not apply for the driver, named only as JC, to be remanded in custody.

But she has had conditions imposed on her, including having to give up her passport and driving licence.

She will also have to report to a court house every fornight and notify the authorities if she intends to leave the island for the mainland.
