Jamie Fullarton: Winter resignation won’t distract Notts County

Video: Jamie Fullarton talks Winter’s resignation and his feud with Stanley Aborah

Jamie Fullarton insists his players’ minds will be on getting three points against Bristol Rovers after another turbulent week behind the scenes at Meadow Lane.

County are still waiting for their first home win under Fullarton after a midweek stalemate against Dagenham and Redbridge.

And while Fullarton admitted the resignation of chief executive Julian Winter on Thursday was a shock, he insisted the side would still be focussing on Saturday’s clash with sixth-placed Rovers.

When you’re under the microscope like a football club is, it’s big news

Of Winter’s decision, he said: “Obviously, it’s a massive surprise for anybody that’s been at the club for a short period of time.

“When you’re under the microscope like a football club is, it’s big news. From our point of view, it’s business as usual and we’re focussing on the game tomorrow and looking to get three points.”

Bristol Rovers beat Hartlepool 4-1 in their last match and are firmly in the play-off scrap alongside Accrington, Portsmouth and Leyton Orient.

The Magpies sit in 17th, four points clear of Morecambe in 18th, and with a game in hand.
