The best Tweets from new Notts owner Alan Hardy since the takeover

New Notts County owner and chairman, Alan Hardy

It’sĀ been almost a week since new Notts County owner Alan Hardy announced his takeover deal was completeĀ on Twitter – and he’s not stopped there.

Avid Tweeter Hardy has been interacting with and replying to fans on the social media site ever since he revealed the takeover was complete on Wednesday (January 11).

His Tweets have won praise from some fans for being so open and responsive howeverĀ othersĀ have questioned whether it isĀ the right format to release important information, such as details of theĀ takeover.

To celebrate NottsĀ endingĀ their 10 match losing streak in the league against MansfieldĀ in Alan Hardy’s first match as owner and chairman, we’ve selected hisĀ top 10 Tweets since the takeover.

A Notts fan Tweeted Alan Hardy showing off graffiti of himĀ shaking hands with new manager Kevin Nolan in front of the club crest.

Hardy was certainly impressed by what he saw!

Alan’s addition was called into question when a fan got into a mathematical muddle after thinking that five goals were scored in a U10s match in whichĀ Hardy’s children were playing when heĀ said that only three were scored.

Three goals in the first quarter was confirmed by another fan.

Hardy is the self-claimed ‘best U10s manager in the world.’

Bradley Lowery is a terminally ill Sunderland fan who was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma in 2013, a type of cancer that forms in certain types of nerve tissue.

The five-year-old has captured the imagination of football fans all over the country having scored December’s Premier League goal of the month, receiving thousands of Christmas cards in support of his battle and being the mascot in Everton’s match against Manchester City at the weekend where he was carried onto the pitch by Toffees’ striker Romelu Lukaku.

Alan has invited Bradley to be Notts’ guest of honour at a match at Meadow LaneĀ in the near future.

Pick that one out!

At half time in Notts County’s 0-0 draw at home to Mansfield Town on Saturday (January 14), one of Hardy’s eight-year-olds wanted to take a penalty in front of The Kop.

And what a finish it was – move over Jon Stead!

Before that penalty and the no score draw, Hardy was on U10 duties helping to set up the pitch ahead of his children’s match!

After Twitter user @1BarryBazza posted a public vote on January 13 as to whether fans should boycott the next Forest home match or not, with 85 per cent of 421 voters saying that they would, @castusthered was interested in going to Meadow Lane in the away end instead.

Alan Hardy said there would be no free pies available for them before @castusthered cheekily suggested that all Forest season ticket holders should be offered a free seat for Notts’ next home game, which was against Mansfield when the Tweet posted.

However, the teamĀ did not react well after the suggestion was put to them…

Alan was ridiculed by some fans for wearing a red tie inĀ a photograph of him wearing a Notts scarfĀ after completing the takeover deal…

Hardy says that tie is now long gone.

Famous Forest fan and England international cricketer Stuart Board wished the new Notts owner well with some encouraging words – to which Alan Hardy replied that the opening bowler could be converted into a Magpie soon!

Alan announced that free pies were available for the first 2,000 home fans through the turnstiles in their derby game on Saturday.

@Jamie1Wilkinson replied to a friend on Twitter asking if a woman named Natalie could drop him off at the ground so he could have a pint.

Alan Hardy was on hand to helpĀ negotiations!

And finally, the Tweet that brought sighs of relief to Magpies fansĀ – his announcement to the world that he completed the takeover to become Notts’ new owner and chairman.

However, not everyone has taken to his Tweeting.

Former communications officer at Notts County, Ralph Shepherd, wrote a blog two days before Alan Hardy announced himself as the new owner and chairman on Twitter calling for him to ‘leave’ the social media site.

On his blog, Ralph said: “Itā€™s very early days but new owner Alan Hardy is using his Twitter account as his main communication tool, which history has shown us can be quite dangerous.

“I know Mr Hardy is being very transparent and gaining many supporters in the process but you must be able to manage expectations; can you do that in just 140 characters?

“Iā€™m personally hoping that Mr Hardyā€™s social media is just early enthusiasm and once heā€™s finally confirmed into the boardroom, he will continue to use his positive vibes through other channels.”
