A public misconduct hearing heard how Mansfield officer PC Samantha Goodwin sent the ‘deeply personal and intimate’ updates about 13-year-old Amber, before the details had been made public. Police took two days to look into a sighting of Mansfield teenager Amber Peat before she was found dead, investigators say. The 13-year-old’s body was discovered in bushes close to her home on the town’s Ladybrook estate on June 2. The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) is examining how Notts Police handled the search for her. An initial assessment, which has now been published by investigators, says police got a call on May 31 about a girl matching Amber’s description heading into the patch of undergrowth. A serious case review has been launched into the circumstances surrounding the death of a 13-year-old girl in Nottingham. Amber Peat, 13 disappeared from her family home in Mansfield on 30 May this year. Her body was found three days later, less than a mile away. Police said at the time that there were no suspicious circumstances with her death. The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) is investigating how officers handled reported sightings from the public. An inquest has opened after a 13-year-old’s body was found near her home in Mansfield. Amber Peat went missing from her home following an argument with her parents about chores. The teenager’s body was found three days after she went missing, near her home in Mansfield. The inquest has heard the injuries the schoolgirl received were consistent with hanging. Nottinghamshire Police have said they are not treating her death as suspicious. The inquest has been adjourned till a later date.
